Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about massage therapy at our Ottawa clinic.

Do I need a doctor's referral for massage therapy?
No. Registered Massage Therapists in Ontario are primary healthcare providers — you can book directly without a referral.
What should I wear to my appointment?
You'll undress to your comfort level in private and cover yourself with a sheet and blanket. Only the area being worked on is uncovered.
Will massage therapy hurt?
Massage should not be painful. You may feel some discomfort during deep tissue work — often described as a 'good hurt' — but you should never be in pain. Communication is key.
How often should I get a massage?
For general wellness, once a month is common. For chronic pain or injury recovery, weekly or bi-weekly sessions may be recommended initially.
Can I claim massage therapy on my taxes?
Yes, RMT services may qualify as a medical expense on your Canadian income tax return. Keep all your receipts.
What if I need to cancel?
We require 24 hours notice. Late cancellations and no-shows may be charged 50% of the service fee.
Do you treat motor vehicle accident (MVA) injuries?
Yes. Our RMTs are experienced in treating whiplash and soft tissue injuries from MVAs. We can bill your auto insurer directly.
Is the clinic accessible?
Yes. Ground-level access, wide doorways, accessible washroom, and adjustable treatment tables. Service animals welcome.
Do you offer couples or group massage?
We can accommodate two clients at the same time in separate rooms with different therapists, but we do not offer couples massage in the same room.
